Wanted-Yellow Lilac, yellow peony and peony with green and white flower seeds

Hamilton, Canada

Just wondering if anyone who trades here has any of these plants in their garden before I order the plants from the U.S. In Canada the peonies are over $100 each, but I can get them from a source in the US for under $40, even with the exchange, duty tax and phyto certificate it would be cheaper. I will trade multiple trades of tropicals and rare seeds for any of the above mentioned seeds. Thanks.

Do you know the names of the peonies , and are they herbaceous or tree peonies? John

No, sorry I do not have the plants you mentioned. I don't think they are very fertile and may need to be hand pollinated, nor is it likely they would come true from seed. I got a herbaceous peony from a supplier in Ontario last year and wasn't satisfied with the service or quality of the plant , especially considering the price. The plants you are considering from different suppliers may be different ages also. I think it's best to see the plant before you buy it or have a good recommendation from someone experienced with the supplier. Sometimes botanical gardens have species paeonia lutea seed for sale, but it is not like the ones you mentioned other than being yellow. It is a parent of the yellow tree peonies. It was in Vandeusen Garden's seed list last year. Good luck, John
