Hi kdm1000,
Congratulations on the first hummers of the season!!

I'm in Northeast, Illinois & still haven't seen any yet. I expected them much earlier because the first sightings up here were early April (according to the migration map at www.hummingbirds.net).

I've had feeders up since April 2nd because the weather was warming up fast & bulbs were coming up early, but since then we've had temps all over the place.

I have a pair of Mallard Ducks that have been regular visiters for about 4 years. They arrived early April & they usually show up about the same time as the hummers. But, come to think of it, I usually see the Indigo Buntings & Rose Breasted Grossbeaks about the same time & they aren't here yet either.

The fact that your hummers just showed up a few days ago tells me that they're coming North at all different times so I'll just keep looking.

Anyway,
Enjoy!!

We have seen no Hummers except that one day. As windy as it is today they probably blew right on by!l.o.l. We have had the yellow finches and red house finches have been thick the last 3-4 weeks.

Last year our first hummers showed up for a few days & then disappeared for almost a week. It's possible the hummer or hummers you saw that first day may have been migrating North & stopped by for a snack. Your summer "residents" might still be heading your way from further South.

Still no more signs of Hummers here. Last year we were gone until first part of June so maybe they are blowing us off now since we didn't have feeders out. Hope not, we sure love to watch them.
Any one seen them this year yet??
