Spring Bulbs 2010 : my yard

Valdese, NC(Zone 7a)

This was my first year for a ton of spring bulbs. I ordered the usuals : tulips, double daffodils, muscari, crocus, and hyancinths.

It was absolutely beautiful, and I will be adding more this year! The perrenials, roses, and TB iris are blooming now too!

This is a picture of Jetfire Daffodils and a Monsella Tulip. While the Monsella Tulip was beautiful only half of them bloomed. The other half put out buds, but never bloomed.

Who knows what tulips will even survive my area for next year.

I had ordered a mix of "Color Changing" Tulips. Most of them were yellow, and I wasn't overly impressed. I won't order them again.

This is the yellow flower

A Donald Duck Tulip. The colors were pretty, but I wasn't overly impressed. It didn't last very long either.

Variegated Firespray tulips. I loved these! The foliage is pretty for when it sticks around after blooming. My camera is awful at photographing bright reds and pinks....

I will buy more this year and put them closer to the front door.

They are really all beautiful. My favorite though, is the Monsella Tulip. So striking.

Monsellas are excellent for forcing as well.
