Invasive....yes, please!

Gibsonia, PA

I cant seem to find enough of it. I live under a canopy of tall oaks and have more moss varieties than grass. I have resorted to planting anything that can possibly take over. I currently have daylillies, myrtle, ferns, hosta, violets, ajuga, lamium, primrose, ornamental strawberries...and more. I recently discovered the saplings I have been cutting out of my ferns for years are purple robe locust trees. I can certainly understand the frustration of having unwanted things in your yard but for me its the deer, turkeys, groundhogs, moles, rabbits, snakes, grubs, beetles and lots of clay that get me down. So feel free to send me all your unwanteds. Happy Gardening!

I can send you Lirope for postage.

Did you mean 'Liriope' a grass-like mound with purple flower spikes? I would give it a try. Any idea how you would mail them and for how much postage?

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Yes, that's the one. I would dig them, wash off the soil, wrap them in damp newspaper and saran wrap. It costs $4.25 per 2 pounds. You should, however, check your local box stores - they carry it for a cheap price - you would get about 3 medium plants for postage.

I wouldn't worry about wrapping it in anything. Its impossible to kill.

But be careful to follow any invasive species laws for your state.......

IVIES!!! Not the species that takes over woods and stuff, but the slower-growing varieties. There are many beautiful ones to choose from. Not sure of the name on this one. They may or may not be hardy for you. I'm in 6b and they are hardy here. I have quite a few more.

Killda, you are correct about the growth rate on this variegated ivy - I have it in one little spot and it hasn't grown much in 2 years.

I believe I planted that one about 4 years ago. Here's another:
