Please let me know the most fragrant daylilies you've grown. And include pics, if you have them.
Thanks!
Fragrant Daylilies
Ice Carnival, pale ivory to white.
Hudson Valley, lemon yellow.
Hyperion (lemon yellow) is reputed to be fragrant, but it was completely odorless for me.
Bummer Steve. I bought and planted Hemerocallis 'Hyperion Elite' this spring with opes of having a fragrant daylily.
Maybe I just have a nose defect that blocks out the smell of Hyperion. Or maybe Hyperion Elite is a great smelling version of the original.
I left behind those good-smellers when I moved here, and I definitely want to plant good smelling daylilies again. I'd love to hear that you have a good experience with them!
Well hopefull it will put up a blooms talk this year but I have a feeling it will be next year before I find out.
Mercy....and I didn't even know there were fragrant daylilies...sheesh
I found that twenty daylilies could perfume a stretch of walkway ten or twelve feet long on a still July evening. And they can be really easy to grow, flowering in mostly shade. I think there might be half a dozen or so pretty good ones.
Shade? *gulp*....that would be missing from most my areas....but hmmmm, maybe to the sides of my daphne growing under the dwarf magnolia....there's an idea... Soooo Steve....which has the strongest scent...the ivory colored one?
It's been a while since I grew them. I enjoyed both very much; not sure one was much better than the other. Ice Carnival was in deep shade. Hudson Valley got more than half a day of sunlight. It took about two years until they were happy. Gilbert WIld was the source for my plants. When they have clearance sales it's not uncommon to pay as little as $2 to $4 per plant for these cultivars.
Wooowhoooo....thank you - esp for the vendor name...
Just placed an order....picked up Ice Carnival for $2/piece and found another called Fragrant Returns for $3/piece...sadly no Hudson Valley...but I'm happy with this start....thank you again!!!

Good Luck. Love to hear how it turns out.
Well, I'm very thankful for all of the suggestions. There's certain plants I like & if I can find a fragrant version that smells good, all the better.
Just as an FYI I've heard really good thing about this site from a trusted friend: http://www.wynnsdaylilygarden.com/About_Us.html
