I just heard on FB from Sheri, that he is gone. dont know what happened???
Chile Dog!!!
I am soo sad,, A four legged love one is hard to lose.
Sheri, all my love and Hugs are with you right now. He was a wondeful Guy,
Love you
Hi Mary -
Sheri's not on here much anymore, so I'll respond.
Chile had bloat with gastric torsion, also called Gastric Dilation-Volvulus or GDV. It's usually big dogs who get it. It's often related to swallowed air, which is why they tell you not to let them eat too fast or eat just before they exercise. Stress can cause it, too. The stomach swells and twists. The twisting stomach traps air, food, and water. The bloated stomach obstructs veins in the abdomen and internal organs start to die.
It happened to him while they were out at a man trailing exercise last weekend. They thought they had gotten him to the vet in time. The surgery appeared to have worked and they thought he was recovering, but then he took a bad turn.
I read an article that said it's the second most deadly thing that can happen to a dog after cancer. Very sad.
I had always thought that big dogs were more prone to it, but a vet friend tells me that all sized dogs can be affected. She says that Dachshunds and Basset Hounds are both prone to have it occur it.
Thank you for letting me know What happened to him. My heart so goes out to her. I know how it feels to Loosing a fur friend. Thats so sad, knowing how much She loved him and all the work they have done.
My Ester is going blind now, after almost loosing her to the injury she had 2 years ago. now she thinks she a pup... NOT... 97 lbs and jumping around, makes me worrie. Not her... ME... LOL
All Take a care of are fur and feathered friends, weather dogs, kitties or birds (just lost one, had her 12 years) they all are special people to us...
Hugs to All
Tills
She's still a beautiful girl. My Nick has had cataracts for several years now and gets around just fine - it's amazing how adaptable they are.
Thank You
I am so sad dogs are great friends to people. All of them. Not that I got the chance to meet such a sweet guy, but I have two sweeties I know, that I would hate to lose. Almost did too, he ate 3/4 of a 60% Cacao chocolate bar, and got sick and to the vet in time. Thank Dog, he is still in fine form.
Yikes, Rob. So glad that your guy is okay!
