Great Blue Heron on a Trail Cam

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

I checked my trail cameras this morning and found that one of them (a homemade* Nikon Coolpix L11) captured a photo of a Great Blue Heron. Unfortunately the bird was a little too close and his feet are not in the photo, but I still thought it was a pretty cool shot for a trail cam. I did crop it some.

* I didn't put the trail cam together, but I ordered it from a guy that sells the controller boards and other parts needed. He put the whole thing together for me. From my experience, the homemades are a lot better than what is available commercially.

From what I see, that's a pretty good picture, indeed. I'm 'gonna' learn more about all these different gadgets some of these days.

Thanks Patti for sharing that pic. of the G.B.H.

Thanks to all. I can't wait to get that cam back out there and see what else I can get.

Wow, that's a really great picture! That angle makes him look so stately.

Very nice!! It will be interesting to see what you capture in the future with that cam.

Elphaba and ducbucln, Thanks much. He really does look quite regal prancing around my camera. The only other bird I got was a cardinal. It was not real close to the cam, so very small in the frame. I'm hoping to see some ducks. The pond had wood ducks on it around this time last year. If they come back, I'm ready for them.
