Brooder that dh made for me for inside the coop

Bridgewater, ME

Dh made this for me,I seen haystacks little pens and thought that it would be a good brooder for the babies once they get all the feathers and can go out in the big girl coop but be safe from the big girls,it will have a heat lamp in case its to cold at night for them and underneath is where the silkie roosters live and the big girls live on the left of them.I`m running out of room for my chickens and dh says no more coops so I will have to come up with other ideas,if you can`t make it bigger go up instead of out.

Neat brooder. I like Haystack's multi-level housing too

Another view, this one is a little bigger than the other one,and this one will go around the silkie coop so I won`t have to bend over to clean out there run and shovel in the winter, thats hard on the old back, will put chiken wirle on and the apron and bird netting on the top just like the other one.My chickens free range a lot now and I was going to let them this summer but what a lot of work going behind them after I put them in for the night trying to fix all my flower gardens, did you know that they dig big holes to take dust baths????????????LOL.Of corse you did.So I fenced in my biggest gardens to keep them out and then they think 10 acres is not enought so they go out in the road and I have to go shew them back. And then I have to be on the watch for the neighbors pit bulls getting lose and chasing them.Is it worth it?The girls say yes.

Well let me stop and count Hay,Silkies three roosters, four hens. One pencil laced hamburg rooster, ten EE`s,five black sexlinks hens.sixteen golden comet hens,so thats 34 big chickens. Now for the babies, four buff orpingtons, two favorolles, thats 6,four more buffs comming May 3rd,and three silkie eggs in bator which I don`t think will hatch today is day 22,So that will make 13 more if the bator hatches.I really need to get rid of all my roosters except Raven the black silkie(remember him Hay he was the one that was given to me with scaley leg mites really bad) He is my favorite and he is so good to the girls,he is afraid of me and anyone else but thats ok he likes his girls. The four buffs that are comming in May I am really going to try to sell them as I don`t want my coop crowed in the winter. The silkies have there own coop.So there is the answer to your question, now that I have added this all up I do have to many!

Green! I do remember when you got that rooster and he was in such bad shape. That is incredible, just reminds me of what a little love can do. Thats a great story. You don't have to many, with all the love you have for them, na, no way. I think I see more in your future. Don't tell DH what I said, ok...LOL. Hay.
