This Spring my theme seems to be over-pruning plants I have had for years.
Has anyone experience with buddleia loricata and pruning it? Mine looked very lanky and I cut it down to almost nothing a few weeks ago and now wonder if it will recover.
Buddleia loricata
It will probably begin growing again (they are tough) but you probably cut off the blooms if they were setting up. They do bloom later in the year though so you might get lucky. The flowers should be pruned off when they turn brown and then pruned harder during the winter/early spring. And you can cut them down to the ground. Some people do that. I take off about three feet and shape them up.
And 'Hello" and welcome.

I pruned two quite severely because I had heard you could and they would come back. Neither of them did. Now I need to get the chain saw at and get the ugly trunks out of there. :(
Well thanks for the encouraging words Gwendalou..... :)
Actually, I see the tiniest bit of green on the smallest stem so it could probably go either way at this point.
Kari, just thought I'd warn you before you started hacking away!
