My early achiever, "Bolero", smells so sweet. I'm thrilled that rose season is finally here in Winston-Salem! Anyone else have roses coming along?
First Rose
My Fredric Mistral is looking very good, but no blooms yet.
Two of my rose are going to have to be moved; the deer have been able to munch on them since I have them close to the road. that gets fixed today!

That's beautiful! I love the splashes of green on it .. all my roses are loaded with buds but it doesn't look like any will be cracking for another week.
I have two roses that bloomed. Not knock-outs....I don't really know what they are. I will have to get pictures later. They bloomed awhile ago. My roses are doing great so far this year. I have noticed aphids on the buds though!!! Apparently, the Bayer systemic didn't work or wore off.
I used Bayer's systemic treatment too but have also had to fend off aphids this year. They've decided they like the new green shoots and buds on many of my rose plants too. I've whipped out the insecticidal soap several mornings this week. I have noticed that (so far) the Bayer product has been effective at reducing black spot on some of my more prone plants. At least, it seems so. My largest Natchitoches is really coming along. I'll try to get some better pics.
It's best used as a soil drench and not a spray and should be reapplied every 6 weeks. Make sure you have the dilution correct for the soil drench .. I've used it for years and never see aphids on my roses.
bungalow1056, I had the aphids bad too, But, I used insecticidal Soap spray and it did a good job. My roses are really blooming there heads off now! Best I've seen them do! I added alphalfa pellets and spson salt this year, Tt seems to have made a real difference!
Flower_addictnc, Post a photo when you have time when there blooming.
