last night I was getting ready to go to bed.. Canyon, my old guy, who is a big red rumpy Manx, was sitting there with his back to me.. Grace, my dog was sitting in front of Canyon with this curious look on her face. She taking her nose and nudging him with it.. Now she'll do that when she wants to get rowdy and play with him so I told her to knock it off.. She can get real rough with him and hes an older cat.. hes 91 in cat years.. I walk over to the bed and Canyon turns his head around, looks up at me and he has a LIVE MOUSE clamped tight in this mouth.. Just what I need to deal with before I go to bed.. I live in an old house and I have mice usually in the winter.. I had put out bait traps for them cause I cant use glue ones cause of the dogs.. I freaked !! Im figuring the only reason he caught it was because it was poisoned and moved slow and now he wants to eat it. I cant let him do that cause it might make him sick.. Do you know how hard it is to open a cats jaws when he doesnt want to let go of something???.. I run outside in my jammies with him and Im trying to get him to let go.. Im trying to pry his jaws open without letting him swallow the mouse but no go. Hes not letting go. hes growling and wiggling and I can barely keep hold of him... Ive got him under my arm and hes a big guy,25lbs..I get the bright idea theat I should spray him with the hose and then he'll let go. I get the hose on and Im set him on the ground and start to spray him... at that point he lets go of the mouse and it jumps on me while Im holding the hose.. needless to say I end up getting a cold shower and Canyon doesnt get a drop on him and the mouse runs under the fence out of the yard....Canyons sitting there with this look on his face that seems to say well its your own fault cause you took the mouse away from me...dripping wet I go in the house and again got ready for bed..
