Composting Dairy...

I know that you should not compost dairy but why? From what I have read it is because if can cause the compost to stink and attract rodents, is there any other reasons then that?

I have been throwing dairy into my bins with no problems. Make sure its a well sealed bin w/some drainage/air holes not an open pile.

Don't know any other reason than fear of smell and rodents.
