I leave a porch light on all night, and was wondering if it might be affecting the flowering of some of my plants on or near the porch, mainly my fuchsia in a hanging basket. The term photoperiodism refers to plants that have flowers affected by the amount of light (and darkness) they get in 24 hours. I cannot find anywhere if fushcias fall into this category. Any help?
Are fuchsia's affected by my porch light?
I have a front yard full of fuchsias which all get some light from my porch light all night long and it has never had an ill affect on any of them. Will Rogers is closest to the porch (five feet) and this bush is always in bloom, so if there is an affect, it must be a good one! Delta's Parade is always in bloom also and it is about 20 feet from the light.
Thanks for your reply! Good to know my fuchsias will be ok. I know this is a fuchsia forum, but any idea with lilacs too?
