Exhausting but worth it. It is is a 10x10 area bounded by a sidewalk and 2 driveways. Last year, it showed 1000 of the most beautiful yellow blooms at the end of my cul-de-sac. I defoliated it today, and found that while classed as an annual, this cultivar also has runners. But I dug out what is probably 99% of it and disposed of it. My plan, is to rake it smooth plant R hirta a species Black eyed Susan that birds like. 'Goldsturm' is not liked by birds according to the literature, we shall see. The R. hirta seeds will go in this afternoon after raking the area more or less level, and then I will compost over the seeds. I look forward to the little plants growing up, and eradicating the 'Goldsturm;' I missed..
Defoliating Black eyed Susan 'Goldsturm'
lol - some of it hides when eradication is about to take place. comes back to haunt you - later.....
Of course it will haunt me. I look forward to further defloations.
