What's Wrong with This Potato Plant?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Discovered this late last night when I was out for my evening stroll. What's going on?!?

Do you have a male dog? Perhaps he tinkled on it?

Now that would stink...pun intended!

It sure doesn't look happy. How is it doing today? Better or worse???

No dog. Didn't have time to check on it this morning, but will when I get home.

Check the seed potato. Is there any signs of disease? The pH maybe off in that section or fertilizer burn as Sequee suggested. Cut off some of the leaves to see if it improves with new growth in a week or so. Also, check if that area is getting too little or too much water or fertilizer.

Wouldn't be a fertilizer problem since I've not applied any. LOL It's been growing just fine until the other day. Very strange. Will check on it when I get home.

Thanks for all the help and replies.

Hmmm!!! That sounds more like a pest problem.

Still look bad. My DH did confess that he *may* have stabbed the roots a couple of times when we were putting straws in when we thought we had a cutworm problem. I think that might cause it to look like it's dying! I think I'll dig up this seed potato and see if whatever it is attacks any other plants in that bin.
