Some Bonnie Loves Me :)

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

My good friend Bonnie opened her arms and shared some babies with me to help jump start my collection again.
I thought I would share pictures of my new friends with all of you :)
If only I could tell you all how much I am cherishing my new babies.
Thank you SO SO much my dear friend!

There are more but they are busy rooting etc. but here are some of the larger ones that have adjusted to life in Maine and which I get to wake up and admire every single morning:

Here is Petrocosmea Shortnin Bread (she arrived with 4 baby suckers which I removed and am babying)

She is the reason I get up everyday and check on all my babies.

Jannich, it's SO NICE to see you post friend :)
I know I thought the subject line was cute too *lol*
I am loving those tiny little sinningias. At first I was struggling with giving them the proper lighting and had them in more sun but they seem to like the window in my bedroom with bright light much better :)
It's funny, I go around every day and check on each one of my plants to see if anything has changed *lol*
I'm loving it SO much.
Forgot just how much I missed growing!
It's really starting to feel like home again with all my new babies to adore :)

Can't wait until I have seeds to share. I'm thinking of crossing Goose Egg & Azure when it blooms. I think that will make a neat combination don't you?

Thank you again my friend, for giving me the excitement of growing again!!!

Always,
Kim

Hi All;
I have so many mini streps from a friend who purchased seed from someone n ebay.they were marked cyanandrus, but we now know thats wrong. but it is a mini & most are red blooms, however i did get 1 that has a pink & white bloom.here is a picture. however they are all mini's

So Bonnie, are you saying that the mini you sent me called cyanandrus is not really?
OMG, I can't use it to cross if it's not a named plant. Have to keep he genus correct out there.
Mine is a reddish color so it's a seedling from another cross?
I can't use it for hybridizing if I don't know the parentage.
That's OK I think it's cute the way it is and I have big plans for Azure & Goose Egg. I removed all the pollen sacs from Goose Egg this weekend and am storing it for when Azure blooms. Then I will cross Azure w/Goose Egg and Goose Egg w/Azure (if the timing is right). Since they are the only 2 streps that I have at the moment that's the most exciting cross I can do *lol*
But I do have Spin Art coming so that will be another "twist" at some point *lol*
Right now just planning Azure & Goose Egg babies is very exciting. Let's hope we get some pods ladies. We will be able to start them this winter when we're looking for "something to sprout"!

I love you guys!

Hi Kim;
Yes the mini strep i sent you must be marked wrong, as the flower is nothing like the name. however i know alot of hybridizers do use unknown named plants in there cross. it just helps more if you know there back ground, otherwise you never know what you will get.but sometimes thats half the fun. lol

Well Bonnie I'm going to do it........I'm going to cross Goose Egg with the unknown mini :)
Keep your fingers crossed. Maybe we will get a mini Goose Egg *lol*

Will keep ya updated :)

So it looks like the mini un-named is going to have to be the Momma and Goose Egg the dad as when I was inspecting the pollen sacs, either they were all too old or the un-named mini is pollen sterile. SOOOO the stigmas looked ready and I had some pollen from Goose Egg so there we have the match. I did 2 stigmas just in case. Will keep an eye *lol*
