Last season I had a bumper crop of beautiful, healthy Waltham butternut squash and I plan to use the seeds from some of the larger best specimens for this years seed. But I just realized I also grew zucchini and yellow squash next to them. Will my butternuts come true to type or should I just buy a packet of fresh seed? Thanks.

No problems if zukes and crooknecks were your only squash in the area. Butternut (C. moschata) does not cross with any of the C.pepos.
Thanks very much Farmerdill. Those were the only squash in the area, so I'll plant some seeds from one of my largest, best shaped butternuts and hope for another good crop. Much appreciated.
