There is a Tufted Titmouse on my window feeder shaking his wings and flapping his mouth like he's having an epileptic fit. He flaps until he falls off and then comes back to do it again.
Is this a courting ritual, I hope?
What the Heck?
LOL, Leslie. I've seen Housefinches with similiar behavior, and yes I think it's a courtship ritual on finches. But I've yet seen a Titmouse doing that. I bet it's cute as can be.
It was. I wish I could have heard the song.
I've a series of Housesfinches doing that "mating dances" -- as I call them. LOL, just as fresh as last year when I first saw this (behavior) I assumed that was the parent feeding a babe. Then with gaining knowledge about this birds over period of time. I can differentiate a male and female bird. Then it 'dawn' on me; it's a dancing of courtship in the spring. Pictures were taken today. lol
