Nature's Way Soil

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Has anyone in west Houston had a delivery of compost or mulch from Nature's Way in Conroe? I'm considering trying their composted leaf mold as mulch and I'm trying to figure out roughly what their delivery charges are. I only need about 6 yards, so I only need a small truck, but not sure it's worth it if their delivery fees are high.

I've ordered a full truckload several times for delivery to Bellaire. I found a bill for 2006 and the delivery charge was $155. I've also had a landscaper willing to drive to Conroe to get it for me. Their compost/mulch/soil are the best I've found period! I'm able to buy it bagged at Southwest Fertilizer on Bissonnet at Renwick. This isn't practical for large amounts, though. I know the owner had been looking for a "yard" closer in, but I guess he hasn't been able to find one yet.

Thanks so much for that info. Considering the distance, that's not too bad for delivery and it's well worth it if I can get mulch without nut grass in it. I'm killing myself trying to get rid of that stuff and every time I mulch, I get a new batch of it. I'll definitely try their leaf mold.

Thanks again.

Crow, we used them for big truck loads @ the Farm & one of my neighbors worked for them for yrs. Of course, when I was working @ the Farm, I didn't know she was my neighbor! lol
The definitely have good soil of all kinds!!!

Dang, will they drive to East of Nac? I get tired of hauling in mulch from neighborhoods in Nacogdoches and sometimes being suprised. Actually there is a place in Lufkin and I've 'threatened' DH to just buy the stuff I need. If I can get leaf mold and a good delivery price, I'm jumpin' in.

Thanks for the post. I needed this.

Actually, I think they'll drive to just about anywhere - as long as you're willing to pay for the delivery costs. Last year, when I was talking with John (?) the owner, he commented that the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower place had ordered a bunch of soils (mulch, etc.) and it actually cost them more for delivery charges than the cost of the product(s).

However, I, too, am hooked on Nature's Way products. Once you've tried them, you'll never buy anything else. The quality is far, far superior to anything else on the market. For smaller loads (a yard or two), we rent a U-Haul trailer (with sides) and hook it up to our SUV. For 3 yards or more (or combination loads such as 2 yds compost, 4 yds mulch) we have them deliver. You might consider asking your neighbors if they want to go in on getting mulch (or compost) delivered, and ask the driver if he'll dump half on your driveway and half on a neighbor's. (Not sure if they'll do that, but it's worth a try - and a "Jackson" slipped to him might not hurt, either.)

We went up to look at wildflowers Tuesday and on the way back via I-10 I noticed that Nature's Way had a large installation (dirt, mulch, etc.) somewhere around Highway 6. I think it was between 6 and Beltway 8 (not sure on this) on the south side of I-10. I didn't see it until we were almost past in heavy traffic.

This should be much easier for everybody in Houston! Call them to get the address.

Thanks Cr0ak. The Jacksonville area is much closer so that's we're we will go.

Interesting business with an apparent demand. May drop a hint to DS as he's on his own in a couple of years (fingers crossed).
