I looked hard and don't see the tail feather dots that say "Downy", so I'm thinking this is a Hairy Wp. Also, the beak appears to be kinda' long, a Hairy Wp trait.
What do you think, Downy or Hairy?

CLOSED: Downy or Hairy, what do you think?
Hairy; note the pure white outer tail feathers (no black spots) and large bill.
Resin
I knew Resin would know for sure which one this is and I just looked in my bird book and agree, definitely the Hairy WP, a little larger than the Downy with the longer beak and white outer tail feathers.
Lucky you Hack, having the Hairy visit your feeders! My Fla bird book says their range is statewide here in Florida but they are not a common bird. The Downy is a frequent year round WP here but I've only spotted the Hairy WP once, a few years ago.
Thanks for the assist Resin. Yep, plantladylin, I see Downy's fairly regularly, but this Hairy Wp is a Lifer for me.
YaHoo.
