I'm thinking it's about time to break out the feeders, but I haven't seen anything blooming that would bring them around.

Has anyone seen the humming birds?
I am planning to put my feeder out tomorrow. I really don't have much blooming either. I am just ready to have them back. Oh, glorious spring!!!
They have been sighted all over. Saw my first one here one day later than last year. April 1 a pair visited my feeders. This sight might be of interest to you hummer watchers and hopefuls

I havent seen any yet...I am actually placing my feeders out today!
Same here HostaLily.
My cross vine is starting to bloom. they should like that.
Made some nectar and put my feeders out yesterday.
Have my feeders out but no sighting yet.
Have the feeder ready, but haven't had the time to get it out yet.
Still haven't seen any here. Feeders have been out since Sunday.

They're here! Saw one this morning and marked it on my calendar.

Saw one down here.
Not one here yet. :(
If they are here they are coming while i am at work :-(
Thought I saw one Thursday, and my DH and I saw him at the feeder Friday morning! Then I saw him Saturday at the feeder. Only one so far but the others can't be far behind.
I'm thinking the one that I've seen was the same one from last year because he came to the feeder and drank even though my neighbor and I were laughing and talking just 5 feet away! How long do these guys live?
There've been a (rare) few here all winter. But the annual summer migration doesn't seem to have occured yet. Painted Buntings haven't shown up yet either. Still seeing the occassional straggler Goldfinch coming through, but we've pulled the thistle feeders in favor of the Millet feeders...Hope springs eternal...
I've seen two painted buntings within the past three weeks. They're gorgeous!
I've only seen pictures of painted buntings .. would love to see some for real!
They're so rare to see or at least I haven't seen many over the years.
First painted Buntings showed up here yesterday. We usually have several families of them by mid summer. I learned at a seminar last year that the young males do not develop their bright colors until after their second year so all the green birds we see might be females or they might be young males.
Core, you should have scads of them at your location but they scare easily and I am guessing they stay away from the kids and yappy dogs. They do need some brush near the water to nest in; maybe your lagoon is too neat.
Well I finally had a hummer yesterday! LOL I was also planting outside, sitting and enjoying the time....and I heard a 'tweet' that I had not really ever heard before.....I looked up, and lo and behold there were five bluebirds! I was so excited! Really made my day!
Mine have disappeared .. thinking it's too cold and they are sitting in a bush somewhere shivering.
Saw my first hummer today. He came to my Lady Banks rose but wasn't interested in it. I always see alot at my Harlequinn honeysuckle vine that is just about to bloom.
I saw my first hummingbird yesterday, too. He was very happy with the weigela.
Can't wait until my mexican bird of paradise (Caesalpinia mexicana) gets bigger and blooms. I know the hummers will love it.
When it FINALLY stopped raining this afternoon I planted a bunch of things I'd collected during the week. I've only seen male hummingbirds so far, and they were really giving me what for!! When they all arrive we'll have 6 feeders out and have to fill them daily. If you sit on the screen porch it sounds like a fighter squadron revving up.
Funny thing Alice a few painting buntings just show up in my yard this weekend. I tried to get a picture but couldn't get close enough.
This will make Alice cringe but my morning glories are always loaded with hummers right around dusk every night when they're in bloom.
:-)
Great a section for Carolina Gardeners! I am in Summerville and we do not seem to have as many hummers this year . I have only seen a few so far. Have 2 sets of Painted Buntings though and just saw the Blue Grosebeak stop by the other day. Frogs and Toads seems to be less every year too. Althoug Last year they must have been coming out of the ground close to our porch out back becuase we had alot of tiny little toads hopping all over.
