Now it's Ric, Holly's SO. Thanks for the link! Back in the early 70s I had a row house in Trenton, on either side and behind me were elderly couples and an elderly widow. When I moved in the back yards were all in bad shape. After I got mine fixed up with borders, hanging baskets, and a tiny veggie patch the neighbors expressed interest in fixing theirs up. They basically told me I had a free reign as long as it looked nice. I was a Hort student at Mercer and worked at The Yardley Florist, access to free plants was not a problem as long as you didn't mind going through the compost pile.LOL I inter-planted flowers, veggies, and herbs, with some hanging baskets (also reused), and containers. I had a good supply of fresh and shared with the others, a win/win! Being intercity or growing season rivaled NC or Southern Va.I moved on but left them with little backyard retreats, that were productive and easy to maintain. I had some pics:-{ Ric

Wow Ric that is wonderful, I am sure not only you enjoyed it but also you left them with something of value. I know that my neighbor has sown interest in the past of growing veggies, he tried for while but was not successful, a lot of people just give up, I guess. I am hoping to have a good harvest this summer if I do I'll share with neighbors and try to spread the word out. If I did not have all the obligations that I have right now, 2 little ones etc.... I would not mind doing what this ladies are doing in other people's back yards.

Here's another cool video of something similar.
