I am just so excited..... My mother 'n law and I went together and bought a big order of cuttings about 8 years ago. This is the first bloom from any of them. I made the mistake of putting 3 small aporophyllum cuttings in a large 8 inch basket. They struggled year after year..... I thought I would lose them several times with overwatering. Next time they'll go in a 6 inch.
Finally BLOOM ! ! !
This is aporophyllum 'Moonlight'
8 years of waiting and FINALLY!!!
A great looking flower. Another one that is going to have to go on my wish list. :))
Thanks..... it's all because of you guys on this group. I had never watered them with Bloom Booster fertilizer until someone was talking about it in this forum. It sure made a difference. I have 3 old baskets of different Aporophyllum and there are little buds poking out all over them. Can't wait until they all bloom. It's been frustrating growing them this long without a flower. They almost landed in the compost a couple of times. :)
When it gets done blooming I can send you some cuttings. OK?
Roxanne
That does sound great but it is something you don't have to do.
All you have to do is send us some more picts when the others bloom.:))
Greg
Love it. Congratulations
Sandy
That's a gorgeous flower! I wonder if I have room for a new addiction? I have to have at least 1 or 2.
Roxxanne
Remind me and after bloom season I can send cuttings to whoever would like.
I have an alterior motive.....LOL.....the more people that grow Aporophyllum, the bigger the demand, the easier they will be to find. :)
Gorgeous, Gorgeous flowers. Now there's 2 more that have to go on my wish list. :)
I thought I had cuttings of Sussex Pink but I don't. I recently got a box of cuttings and have Sussex Lilac, Sussex Peach, and Sussex Flame.
How lucky to get a mature collection of Aporophyllum. I can't wait till mine all grow up and start blooming. Have only 3 blooming sized baskets......rest are all cuttings.
Another great set of pictures. Keep them comming. I am going to see if I can find some on E-Bay.
I never knew these plants had flowers like this untill now.I like the Epies, as I just started to collect them this year.
I will have to start to collect these too.
Greg
I love the Epis too. The reason I wanted to start growing the Aporos is for space. They have a nice hanging basket habit and generally take up less room than most Epis. They do not have huge flowers like the Epis. Most range from 1 to 4 inches. A few with 5-6 inch blooms. But what they lack in flower size they make up for in numbers. I've seen baskets with so many flowers you could barely see the plant. I'm still working on getting mine to that point. :)
