We bought ducks a few weeks ago as chicks, and I realize that since they aren't feathered, they probably aren't ready to free-roam and hang out on the pond. What I don't know is when they can! They're gumming up my chicken coop, and taking them out for swim time in a trough is fun, but a bit of a hassle. We have a 3-acre pond, and our plan is to have them out there (we'll see if they'll stay there, rather than come filth up the pool and the patio, trying to hang out with us!). So how old do they have to be to put them out? Will they get all of their food from the pond (it's stocked and has lots of water vegetation) or do I still need to feed them? Thanks!
When Can I Put the Ducks on the Pond?
I'm confused, I didn't know baby ducks were called chicks, or have they morphed since you bought them...LOL I always stand to be straightend out...LOL just do it gently...Hay.
Ahem...
We bought ducks a few weeks ago as DUCKLINGS, and I was wondering when they'll be old enough to put on the pond. Does anyone OTHER than Hay have any suggestions?!?!?! (Ya snot...)
Eileen :)
Love it.. LOL
Sorry.. I'm a chicken head.. can't help with ducks.
They need to be big enough that any turtles therein cannot swallow them up. You will still want to get them in at night for predator protection.
