Looking for japanese water iris for my 70 year old nabor......2-3 fans. She is enlarging her small pond and was told this is a plant she should have. It must live through zone 5 winters.
Thanks for looking

If you are referring to the yellow flag iris, please be aware they are invasive, and banned in many states. If you mean Japanese iris, these can not be left in standing water over the winter. Please let us know to which you are referring.
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/996/ if you look here it shows 2 vendors selling them.
It was an ex~landscaper from Canada who told her she needed a Japanese Water Iris. She is building a bog bed at the edge of the pond...I myself might like to try one in one of my many bogs.
Many plants to swap...I'll try to get back here with a list.

Just so you know, Mittsy was right that Japanese irises can not be in a bog over winter in z5. It will freeze and kill the crowns. I'm a grower. Don't want you to lose them.
And if you are talking about the yellow bog iris, pseudacorus, please don't do it. They are choking out waterways all across the US, causing animals not to be able to feed.
Please do some research on this. Thank you.
