Well this bird flew through my woods today and this is the best photo I could get.
CLOSED: Help IDing Please
lagerfran: I don't know a lot about identifying birds but I'd say maybe a Warbler of some sort. I will look through my Fla. Bird book and see if I find anything similar but I bet someone will be here with a correct ID before I get back! ^_^
I think it might be a female Black-throated Blue Warbler! Scroll down this page to see the picture of the female: http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/305/_/Black-throated_Blue_Warbler.aspx
Hopefully one of the expert Birders will be along soon to confirm or give a correct identity.
If it does turn out to be the female Black-throated Blue Warbler I hope you will consider uploading your picture to Bird Files: http://davesgarden.com/guides/birdfiles/go/68/ So far there are only pictures of the male which looks much different with the dark color.
I dunno.... looks like a red-eyed vireo to me.
+1 to red eyed vireo
LOL ... see, I told you I'm not good at identifying birds!

My Fla bird book says they are common in central & north Florida and that their diet consists mainly of insects although they also will eat fruits of Dogwood and Virginia Creeper.
Agree, Red-eyed Vireo
Ditto to Red-eyed Vireo

Thank you so much everyone, new bird for me, woo hoo.
See it does pay to just look at a tree sometimes even when you do not hear any birds there.
