Ok so I have waited almost a year and finally I am going to get 4 blooms but they have been coming for ages please don't tell me I have waited this long and they will only last a day?????
Blooms
They will last longer than a day. There are slight differences in how long they stay open, but if I had to come up with a range, I'd say between 4 and 6 days. Unless you get a very windy day when the flowers open. Then they could get shredded by the wind and be gone in a day. I've had that happen to some of my Brugs.
Once the plants are mature and the size of the flush is large, you may have blooms opening for several weeks. Depending on the genetics of the Brugs you have, some Brugs' flushes may be so close together that it may seem to be in continous bloom for several months. Other cultivars have very distinctive blooming periods and 4 - 8 weeks between flushes. During this time, you'll notice the buds get up to a certain size then stop growing. This is because the plant suspends growth until a certain threshhold is reached. Then they all start growing again and you end up with one magnificent flush. This is especially true of versicolor Brugs or Brugs that a lot of versicolor genetics in them.
Peaches and Cream is young example of the kind of flushes they have.

thanks Bettydee you have given me some hope that I will not have to wait forever to see these lovely flowers, I have not seen any of these on my island so you can understand why I am so excited. I have about 5 other Brugs growing but none of them look close to forming a 'Y' sue
