Anyone know...

Can you grow a Camellia from seed?? OR Do they seed off?
My mother's Camellia is about 30 years old and she recently found some funny looking seed pods on it, when it was broke open there were 3 big seeds in it. Has anyone ever seen these before? and are they the true seeds?? I do know that Camellia's are very slow grower's but I wondered if the seeds would produce a plant? I wouldn't know how to start the seed, should it be soaked over night? or how??
Please help...I want to plant these seeds!

Mollybee,
You can start camellias from seed. Hybrid varieties will not necessarily come true from seed though. What you are describing is in fact the seeds of camellias...they are very large. There are several classifications of camellias according to their flower type. Email me and I will send you a copy of my notes on how to propagate them and the different varieties. By the way, what color are they as I'm currently growing camellias from seed and maybe we could trade.
