Your black chick is a rooster. Look on Feather Site.

Lodi, United States

I had "Salmon Faverolles" that turned out to be "Mahogany Faverolle"...but the feathersite article does say that people are working on other colours including black and buff:

That is the site i was looking at earlier but if you look at the bottom of that page it shows the diffrences between males and females they are both born yellow and males develope color within a couple of weeks in the wings.Im wondering if its like a blue or a black but would that color come frm the salmon color? I guess im more worried that i might have got mixes and sold to me as salmon.I would love it if it ends up a blue or something as long as it isent a mix of breeds.

Im really excited too they seem like sweet birds.Im plannin on spoiling them!I ended up with 4 of the 6 so far ill give the eggs a little while tho cause these are actually early.I think i might buy some tiny fans for the incubators this year.Im sure that will solve the temp and humidity problems.
