This is that little black duck that the Silkie hen hatched. It is now getting close to 2 months old and is as big as our full size ducks already. Little Yoshi is getting to be a BIG Yoshi.
Remember Yoshi, little Yoshi isn't so little anymore
Wow yoshi sure has grown! Does silkie mom still remember him?He is adorible smidge
I don't think Silkie mom remembers him/her and probably doesn't want to either, lol. He/she is now at least twice as big as she is.
Oh what a darling pic! Love that face!
kool Duckmother,
we just had to pick a replacement breed for the pilgrims we ordered and we chose the blue swedish. What are they like? do they have personality? We already have runners black and buff and white, Rouen, and peekin then we have pilgrim and pomeranian.
He's beautiful! That's the kind I am going to get....Swedish. I can't decide whether I want black or blue so will get 2 or 3 of both colors.

Our little Love was the biggest entertainer of the 3 siblings...we also had Faith and Hope, which were mallards (same Mom different Dads.) Love is very easy going and rarely fights with another male. He will just walk away...after a little arguing ;o) He is very attentive and loving. I think you will be happy with this breed!
awesome! Im lookin forward to them.i think we will be getting them some time in may unless the pigrims become avalible again.I wanted to add new blood to our flock again this year.I now think i would rather have the blue swedish.
Beautiful duck Duckmother. How big is your duck? Is he really big or average duck size?
Thank you for the kind comments. Love is a medium size duck. He is smaller than a pekin but larger than a call.
Just wondering because at 2 months Yoshi is already about as big as our Buff ducks. I'm not sure the breed but it looks a lot like the Blue Swedish in the picture you posted. Yoshi has some green sheen in the black as well as a blue sheen and some bluish feathers on his wings.
Hmmm...sounds like Yoshi has some Cayuga relatives ;o) Cayugas are stockier than blues but are still considered a medium weight duck. So, Yoshi may grow some more but probably not too much.
I hope not too much, or the poor thing will be twice as big as the other ducks. I suspect too that it has Cayuga in it.
