It's really funny when the babies are old enough to follow the parents. They (the babies) will stretch their wings out, too, but they don't have any idea why they're doing it.

That is so cute! Have you seen the Mockingbirds eating the blueberries? During spring when we have mockers nesting with young I always put out a tray of mixed berries, raisins and grapes for them and they really seem to love the blueberries! We have a short brick wall at the front of our house so I sit a terra cotta plant saucer there and put the fruit/berries in it. Last year after the babies fledged the nest but were not eating on their own yet, they would fly over to the brick wall, sit right nest to the large tray of berries and scream for the adults to feed them. It was so much fun to watch! The adults would grab a bit and feed the baby, then grab a blueberry for themselves ... it was really funny, I never saw the adults feed blueberries to their young, seemed like they saved them for themselves and fed their babies the other fruit!

Mockingbirds seem to like mango's and papaya too. This guy was trying to eat a large piece but dropped it on the ground. He eventually flew off with it in his beak.

I haven't seen them eat the berries. I know someone is eating them though. The birds usually don't bother them until after we've already picked what we wanted or if we don't get them in a timely manner. I'm always surprised though how long they last before the birds start chowing down on them.
