Spring Babies

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Isn't spring just a miracle time of the year... We had twin Pygora kids last night.. and for twins they couldn't be more different.. in coat, ear carrage, nose slope... and color..

Mama is just a wonderful Mom, taking great care of the little ones. I really held back and let her do it all.. even though I was dying to take charge..

As tired as I am.. I am so glad it's he and not me.

dark buck 5 lbs
white doe 4 1/2 lbs
No names yet.. want to see who they are first.

Fran I agree, Spring is the season of miracles. They are all around us if we just look for them. How beautiful and cute. I'm always amazed at how well the mom's take care of their young. Congrats to you!!! I just love the farm animals. I believe God is so good. So many friends from such diversity. Haystack.

They are sweet,I have been thinking about getting some small goats what can you tell me about the pygora goats?

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

awww Congratulations! They are adorable. :)

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

greene, I can tell you that a pygora is a pygmy angora cross, preferably with the buck being the pygmy. They are usually bred for fiber but can be a meat goat. You can end up with one of three different types of fiber

My babies this year are considered F1s, then I should bred them with other F1s and come up with an F2 you want to make sure the babies carry the traits of a pygora and not too much angora nor pygmy.. a fine line and you must breed with a very open eye and honesty and know right up when it is not working!

Oh Frans... They are wonderful... I do agree with you, spring is amazing....

Fran, they are adorable - congratulations!!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Too cute. Congrats!

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

Congratulations! They are so cute! Are they as soft as they look? Hmmmm.....after reading what size they are, I could have up to 3 of them in my back yard. I know my DH would not go for that! Besides that, I know goats would probably eat everything in our backyard.....lol!

Clarkson, KY

purrrrrrr........

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Loreen.. a misconception.. goats are NOT garbage eaters.. in fact if their hay lays on the ground too long, they wont eat it.. There is a lot of hay waist.. They DO NOT eat tin cans, unlike sheep, they do not eat the grass down to the roots, they actually only trim it just like a lawn mower.
BUT, they do like thier food and will bowl you over getting to it.. they like to say no a lot.. but then so do real kids.. we just have to know what thier weak spots are and intice them to do what we want.

Oh, now that you're holding one, look how little they are! Too much cuteness!

I know they don't eat garbage....I was talking about all the plants in the yard....lol! I know they especially LOVE roses at least the few goats I've known do.

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

You are soooo right about the rose bushes.. isn't it funny they eat just about anything with sticker branches???

FYI.. those are NOT my dirty fingernails... lol hubby just got back from work.

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

I didn't even notice the dirty fingernails...lol....too busy looking at the goatlings.

My DH says if we ever get a box with airholes in it, it will be returned to sender express mail...lol. I think he's afraid one of you is going to send me something with feathers or fur....lol.

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Now thats funny... is he looking for cars?

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

HUMMM sticker branches? we have goat heads growing here, they are stickery... I am forming a thought.

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

Goat heads? Are those some kind of plant, or is it because it's so dry there that's the only part of the goat you can grow.....sorry, took a silly pill today.......HAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

LOL step on just one and you will remember it for life. They are a week, that the stickers get on the bottom of boots and find themselves in the carpet so you step on them in bare feet. I mean the weed is pretty in the spring, all nice green with purple flowers, but the summer..WATCH out.

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh my.. I looked that up.. OUCH!!! so glad we don't have that here.. not sure if I want my goats to eat that

Fran, those kids are too cute.

Ferndale, WA

Good Lord!!! How does anyone not fall in love with faces like that. OH I hate my weaknesses. Those are just to precious.

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Well I am having a little trouble naming the little boy..
he is such a pretty mocha color but that sounds off for a buck..
My daughter wants to name him scooter.. not bad but he doesn't scoot he hops/bouces

If his fiber is not of the quality we are looking for, he is going to a farm that only has one horse, his name is Big Red.. might be nice to have him named something that goes.. like Hoss.. lol

Oh.. his sisters name is Ms Scarlett, Mom is Pink.. and Dad is Adam,he was our first male, I thought of Able, but the family thought that was dumb..
I am not geared to any type of name.. just something I can remember and fits him..
Any Ideas?

so:
Scooter
Able
Cappy (cappachino color)
Rhett (kids say Gross thats his SISTER)

Ok guys.. hate to ask and run.. but check this out

Babies are doing good.. just figured out a name for the boy.. Titan.. lol, he had a yukky butt and mamma wasn't doing a good job, so I washed it off and was using my titanium hair dryer.. thought.. wow he is about the bronzy color of this hair dryer.. saw the T word and just knew.. that was it!!!

So Titan & Ms Scarlet

(sorry for the double post.. but was a good explaination so why reinvent the wheel)
