Hello all,

NEW BABY PIX AND GUESSING GAME
Oh good, a chick gender game! I am no good at sexing, but they sure are cuties. You need the experts to weigh in.
:) I see more girls that you do but i'm definitely NOT an expert... s i won't say who I think is a girl.. wouldn't want to get your hopes up & i'm totally wrong.
Where are the experts when you need them?
I can't tell on the tiny babiez unless I can see the wings..
Looks like the lighter of the two EE's is a pullet..
The lighter partridge #3 looks pullet.. the dark one might be too, can't tell.
5 & 6 can't tell at all.. one looks like a roo?
Lil Shotzy looks pullet to me!
Vee has me wondering.. not much tail there.. Roo?
Spiffy and Ginger I think are pullets.
Dottie? Roo indicater light is blinking a little LOL
I'm no good at Cochins.. can't help ya there.
This is my guess.. I'd sure like to see wing pics in a day or two on those first babiez.. I can tell much better then. But hey.. that's why it's called a guess. :) I enjoy it anyway!
I will get some new pics of the younger ones tomorrow. they are so darn cute and now my salmon faverolles are hatching I have one right now and i think 3 or 4 pips the seramas that were in the same bator dident even pip 6 of them looked like they would but nothing:0(
Are you telling me that none of the Seramas have pipped at this point? How many days have they been in?
None have piped they have now been in 21 days. I took them out of the egg turner at 17 days and put them into the hatcher. 6 eggs look good but im not a good enough candler to tell if there is movement i only see a completly dark inside with an air cell at the top of the egg just like the other chicks i have hatched.
I would wait. If they were lower in the incubator (because of their size) there is a remote chance that they incubated at a lower temp and are just a day late.
Ok they are at 21 days now so should i let them go until like 23 days?
I always wait till day 23...it is not unusual to have a lagger. It is suppose to mean that your temp was a little low.
ok well i will give them that time.I have been on pins and needles since friday day 19 and have been getting more bummed since then so this gives me just a glimmer of hope.
I would wait. If they were lower in the incubator (because of their size) there is a remote chance that they incubated at a lower temp and are just a day late.
If I may ask, if you mix standard eggs and small eggs, the smaller eggs can hatch later?
Generally bantam eggs incubated at the same temp as standard eggs will hatch earlier not later. But, depending on the design of the incubator and whether it is forced air or still air, it is possible for the bantam eggs to be low enough in the incubator that they are incubating at a slightly lower temp.
If you put your thermometer on top of the eggs in most incubator you will see that the temp is slightly higher than if you put it down on the egg turner itself. The air stratifies according to temp. That is what the fan is suppose to compensate for especially in a large multi-level incubator.
Then if you have mixed eggs, should you place the thermometer on the bantam eggs? I have two out of 22 in the bator right now in the top corner about 2 rows from the fan.
I woudn't worry too much if you have a fan. That should keep the air from stratifying. They do say that the four corner egg holders of the incubator run a little lower than the rest, but the eggs do hatch from those...even if they might be a little later.
