I am going to go visit Cats with my tupperware...

Lodi, United States

Well, not to worry. I just looked under the broody, Laura, and two of the black chicks are under there...not sure how they got back there and still not sure what happened to the other four.....

It does rather seem that, between the two of you, you manage to cook up magic on a daily basis. How else to account for it??

Gridley, IL

Ohh im sooo jelouse! im on day 19 today for my serama eggs and nothing so far. Not even a slight pip :0(. I want them so bad!!!!! ZZ your new babies are so cute and catscan i would love to visit with tupperware too. i wonder if cat would notice if one or 2 of her chicks we suddenly goose size with web feet? giggle Ok so how long do i give my lil serama eggs before i begin to cry? I feel a road trip comming if i have to drive to get some im gonna do it!!!

Lodi, United States

Serama are said to start to hatch at 19 days...but it does depend on the temp and I have had them hatch on day 18 through 21. So not to worry.

Speaking of which...I found another of the missing chicks under its mamma...So I was only missing 3. ZZ was glad to hear about it...she came over to return the tupperware she borrowed last night. I went out to get an old brooder I had borrowed from her and when I came back all three had disappeared again! The little rascals....

ZZ, did you forget to leave the tupperware?

We Lodites are on quite a roll Serama-wise. Of course we owe it all to the dedication of the broodies and the eggs not being shipped. When I had shipped eggs, I usually hatched no more than 2 or 3 out of dozen. But that is how I got my start. So far about 50% of the Serama pullets are dedicated broodies and that makes a huge difference.

I would like to introduce Nickel...

I'm sorry it was such a bad pic.. but we were trying to hurry so they won't get chilled..

This is the last one to hatch.. I am crazy about this one! It looks blue, but it's just grey and white.. Haven't named it yet.. I'm thinking of calling it Tag

My eggs were shipped i think there was like a dozen. From what i can see it looks like 5 or 6 of them should be hatching.I would be content with just one pair out of them all.I just might have to drive to mossuri and visit a breeder!for now i have to be content with my tinny lil banty chick who at 11 days old will still fit in the shot glass.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

And now there are 9 :)

If I hadn't kept losing mine, I would have 6. Had six, lost three, then found three...yes, I would have 6....

How adorable.! You will eventually need a bigger shot glass:0).

I forgot what kind you said it was. At first I didn't think I would like banties...but now I love them. They do everything a standard chicken does....but they are easier to hide from the chicken police.

Gridley, IL

ohh if only my seramas could multiply like that ZZ what are you feeding them to make them duplicate every few hours?

here is the 11 day olds that hatched together lmao a lil diffrence in size now!

That chick is out of my mystery chickens im not really sure what they are but im starting to think they are dutch. We won a bid at our local auction for assorted bantams there were 2 breeds in the box one was black breasted red bantam OEG the others we havent identified yet.they all look about the same in type but the colors seem to be whatever pops up.I did a therad on the mystery chickens a while back. They are tiny as are our bantam OEG just a Tiny bit larger than our pigeons.I dont think they are mixes tho its a breed of some type.

Here is a pic again of the parents.

Oh! They do look very much like my Dutch Bantams. Are they rather noisy? Because my Dutch do like to talk...and complain.

Edited to add:

Some of my Serama are close to the same size as the Dutch Bantam. They are the larger class C Serama, of course, but Dutch Bantams are very small.

Those pics are adorable!! Way huge cute factor! LOL I love the size thing.. Darling baby there...

Catsy gets mixed up when it comes to math.. she works so hard.. poor thing is just too tired to count. Out in that hot sun all day does something to her.. I hope you have been wearing a hat Catsy!

All I did was encourage her to NOT pass up a good deal for some eggs on ebay.. you know, just to help out. I can't be to blame cause she can't remember how many chicks she has! I offered to help.. I will clean and help get the yard weeded.. or she can do that while I step inside.. LOL
