I am so excited

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

my new babies came today. Got tired of hatching goose eggs and ending up with all males so I ordered all females from Ideal. I got
1 Toulouse for Brokewing
1 Brown Chinese for Boo Boo baby
1 Embden
2 Gray Saddleback Pomerainian so Spaz can take his pick lol. He is a huge white male Pilgrim
also got
1 male & 2 females each of Rouen & Cayauga
and 1 female each of Black Runner & Fawn & White Runner for the pond. All my wildlife has disappeared since I moved the Aviary up by my the house and away from the pond. Maybe having ducks out there will bring them back

What fun! I've always admired geese.

Congrats Donna, I love geese! Hope you can post some pics, bet they are adorable!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

want to let them settle in a few days after their trip. The poor geese were squished down in the box. They were to tall for it. I think that was rather cruel!!

Clarkson, KY

Congrats! Look forward to hearing!!

28 days... I went out this morning, and one is sitting and one had laid another egg next to her... I wanted to grab it, but by the time I got home from work, it was already sitting under the nest... Not sure if we are going to get any babies, but hey its Mother Natures experiment so only time will tell..

(Zone 5b)

28 days of agony and excitement LOL. Seriously considering trying out the incubating next spring.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

No NO NO.. I swear I read somewhere that it was 28 days...(No Disrespect DonnaB) I don't think I can handle 30 days, I mean she never leaves her nest, I put grass down there and I never see her eat, I am concerned for Cookie although I would love to have babies, I dont want anything to happen to her.. She has pulled alot of down out to cover her nest, so has my little duck.. What happens if it turns off cold...Ugggg

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Miss J their body heat goes up when the brood. I do not think you have to worry.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

most duck are 28 days except Muscovy which are 35. Geese are 30 to 32 days. I hatch 3 batches last year so I am sure

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Yeah! That is a beautiful egg! I hope you get another one today! Congrats Donna!!

North Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

Almost looks like you dyed it for Easter ;o) Sorry it broke. I know your heart sank to your feet when you did.

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Moved out Ketchup and Sesame street (Geese) out of the pen with ducks and sitting Cookie(Other goose) to a pen right next door. Sesame Street was getting down right nasty with my ducks, just being over protective of Cookie and I have a duck in that pen sitting and one laying.
Now ducks are happy and Cookie is quiet.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Good move MissJ. Geese are very protective of their eggs and goslings. Explain to Billy that he may not be able to be around his geese until the gosling are about 3 months old

Boo Hoo no Marans eggs today but did get my fist Araucana eggs. Pictured are Araucana bluegreen eggs, off white Sliver Sebright egg, and tan Goldenlaced Wyandotte egg. No one wanted to lay today
