want something single, very fragrant, will be in a pot. pink? Also, blooms frequently. Any one know of qnything that fits the bill? i have b arborea and versicolor. love them! thx
looking for a new brug... suggestions?
I was going to suggest B. arborea. It has the most powerful fragrance of all the Brugs. One of my favorites is Rubirosa if you are looking for pink. One thing about pinks in northern California though: many pinks are paler in California than they are in other states. I sent my mother, who lives in Fremont, a cutting of Rosamond a few years ago. She produced very nice pink blooms for me here in central Texas, but hers usually had only a rim of pink on her skirt. She finally tired of it and pulled it out. This is Rosamond:

And this is Rubirosa:

Another of my favorites, a yellow/gold called Dr. Seuss. It grows like a week in the San Francisco Bay Area and has a great fragrance. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/11450/
Both Rubirosa and Dr. Seuss produce great flushes.
Rosalie is another great pink bloomer. Mine is still quite small but produced 3 blooms for me. I love her shape. She has a lot of B. aurea in her, probably my favorite species.

Isabella has been around some time, but what keeps her around is that she is supposed to cover herself with large flushes especially if she is planted in the ground. Mine is too small and still in the vegetative growth stage so I can't attest to that but Gary (xeriscape8321) has posted photos of her in bloom. Gorgeous!

Jamie is a variegated sport of Charles Grimaldi. I'm a sucker for variegated plants. I haven't had the privilege of seeing my Jamie bloom. I planted him in the ground last winter and he didn't return in 2009. So I had to start all over again with a small cutting. His flowers are the same as those of Charles Grimaldi, against a variegated background. Wow what a combo that must be!

Maya is another variegated pale yellow, yellow-gold, almost white bloomer that can cover herself with blooms. Wonderful variegated leaves. Fast grower Great looker.

Mountain Magic is one of my favorites as well. She produces large dark pink blooms:

Miss Emily MacKenzie has one of the longest pink blooms that exist.

I have photos of most of the Brugs I've mentioned, but used photos from the PlantFiles because I can add them as links. Besides I wanted to post a photo of a single pink that has become my absolute favorite single pink — Dorthea. Dorthea has dark pink blooms with magnificently long tendrils. She was also one of the hardest singles to find. It literally too me a number of years to finally get a rooted cutting of her. This is my small Dorthea with blooms. This photo was taken 9/29. The color of her blooms was almost red. She also bloomed three more more times while overwintering in the greenhouse , but her blooms were paler. Sets set pods easily.
There are of course many more, but these should help you get started in making you choice. Happy hunting!
You will have a problem finding a very fragrant pink. High fragrance can be found in the yellow, orange and many of the whites. I agree with Bettydee and the preformance of the ones she listed. The arboreas are extremely fragrant, but so far they are all white.
I agree Isabella is a great one.

There's a saying about great minds thinking alike. LOL. Isabella's form is not one of my favorites, but when I say Gary's photos I figured I could live with her form as long as I could have that many blooms.
My neighbor has a Charles grimaldi and says it seems to have more problems with mites. How's Isabella on that subject?
I have had the same Isabella plant for about 6 years, bought it from Country Gardens. It has never been bothered with insects. I have it outside my kitchen window and it greets me every morning all summer long. If I could only have one brug, it would be Isabella.
