We've got some video posted today of our 2 new litters. You can check them out at www.thehaywire.typepad.com if you like.

They are too cute! Do they know who mom is, or do they just nurse off whomever is handy? We had mother & daughter cats that nursed each other's kittens. Don't know if other animals will do that or not. It looks like one sow is limping, is that MyFoot?

The pigs nurse their own moms, but sometimes older pigs will try to elbow in on a younger litter if they're not nursing at the same time, but the sows nurse at the same time for the most part. The sow limping is Geez. She must have slipped the other day when we had all that snow, which then turned to ice. She'll be alright in a day or two, I hope.

Thanks for the link. I enjoyed seeing the piglets and also enjoyed the second video regarding planting. I usually use a tape measure for spacing but that contraption you have looks much more convenient. And thanks for the tip on the blade at the end of the step post. That will save me some bending!

terri, when you're turning 50 like I am this year, anything you can do to keep from bending is a plus! :) That plant marker is made from three 1"x2" oak slats, a hinge, and 2 bolts with wing nuts. I put a sharp angle on the ends to punch thru the plastic, but if you're planting in bare dirt a square end would work just as well. It definitely saves alot of time and stooping.
