I bought a couple more edgeworthia this week. I like their Dr.Seuss look and love the smell.
I complain frequently that tulips are only annuals down here, but then when they bloom it seems worth it.
What's blooming in March?
Oh my that's pretty. You need to buy some of the species tulips when Riverbanks holds their bulb sale next fall.
Alice- you're so right, I definitely want those species tulips. I love the idea of planting them in the grass.
Not blooming but I noticed my brugs are starting to grow??? I was think they may have gotten killed off by the cold but apparently not. Cannas are 6 inches or so, think they loved the extra water this winter and were all ready to go.
Sigh, I really wish we could grow those parrot tulips here! When I lived in England they were all over the place and stunning!
One of my Iochroma cyanea, Red Wine is blooming! I traded for the Red Wine and Plum last year .. they both got attacked by spider mites and are looking pretty poorly overall at the moment but once the soil temperatures warm up and they start actively growing I'll cut them back and hopefully they will bush out. I keep checking the anthers throughout the day for pollen, but can't seem to find the right time when it's released .. I'd love some seeds.

With this being the first spring in our new house I'm tickled to see what's bloomed so far.
Forsythia, Red Bud, Quince, Narcissus
Now coming are Dogwood, Azaleas, Iris
In June I can't wait to see my hundreds of daylilies bloom.
Leslie, Hope you post some pictures of all the new bloomers! And always look forward to the DL photos!!
Will do.
I hear ya. I bought a cute little Iris japonica, "Wuhan Angel" from PDN last year and it's blooming its little heart out.
Lol .. that reminds me of my neighbor who wanted some of my jap on knee ka. I looked at her funny and said "wha?" she said jap on knee ka - I said .. that's a new one to me! I don't have any jap on knee ka.

LOL that's too funny, X! Reminds me of when I was in elementary school, and we had to read aloud to the class sections of our textbook ... we were learning about large US cities. I got to read the section on "chick-a-go" (Chicago).
((blush))
How bout "cha who a who a" for chihuahua - my brother in reading out loud a book I sent to my sister in law when she was on chemo.
Phonics .. gotta love em!
