They appeared with the juncos in about November. I'm in Flagstaff but am from Illinois and have never seen this bird before.
CLOSED: This bird hangs out with the Juncos.
Just another color morph of the Dark-eyed Junco. This one has a distribution that does not include Illinois.
Years ago these guys (morphs) were considered seperate species but most have now been "lumped".

Thank you for your help! It is interesting here in Flagstaff because I've been here for 5 years but lived in a desert meadow area and never saw this subspecies. I now live in the pines and am seeing lots of different birds. Thanks again.
