Chickens are in the same family as pheasants...I wonder if they ever hybridize? Isn't that what was claimed for the Iowa Blue?

Yes, pheasants and chickens can interbreed. There was a thread on here (I think) several months ago showing pictures of the crosses.
I thought that was guinea fowl...but I do think it is possible.
