I recently acquired an unidentified bird skull. I do not know the origin of the specimen. Does anyone here recognize the shape or 'teeth' or anything? i am completely at a loss. It is just under a foot long.
bird skull id?
No (living) bird has teeth. Looks like an upside-down Garfish skull.
Not sure what it is, but definitely not a bird - birds don't have teeth (they're as rare as hen's teeth ;-)
Whether a fish or a reptile, I don't know. Is baby Alligator a possibility where it came from?
Resin
Skull is of an Ocean fish, not sure which though.
The shape of the teeth and snout it looks like a barracuda to me.
Thanks for the leads. Unfortunately I can confirm it is not a barracuda skull as i am quite familiar with barracudas (avid fisherwoman here (: ). I am now expanding my search to fish as well. Also unfortunately, i also have NO idea where it is from. Curious and curiouser. Anyone with any insight- appreciated. thank you.
Can you take another photo or two? I still think it's upside-down. Dorsal aspect (eye socket view) might be helpful for ID.
Agree with OldNed, a couple more shots of the skull preferably not upside down, and you will get an Id.
