A dear friend sent me some Chirita Tamiana and Sinningia White Sprite seeds so that I could see SOMETHING sprouting *lol*
I was hustling through the various plastic containers I save and remember that I had these from the last time I made fish food.
I burned a few holes in the bottom and BAM instant mini greenhouses *lol*

I do need to get some plant markers though...........the clothes pins make me think of Jeff Foxworthy saying.............you might be a redneck if...........you use clothes pins as plant markers *lol* Guess what is already on the list of things to pick up at the store next time?

Thank you SO much for the seed my friend! I can't wait to see some sprouts! I just love both plants and will cherish each and every one of them :)

Always

I just love these little containers. Will make nice chirita propagating chambers too.

I buy 16 of them at a time to make fish food so I might as well put them to good use :)

I love those little containers!! I put a posting on freecycle in my area a few months ago asking new mothers to save some for me but no response.Darn ^_^

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Jannich, would you like me to save you some?
I use 16 (sometimes 18) a month or so when I make my fish food (yes, my fish are spoiled *lol*)

Let me know :)

Wow! Good idea. Don't forget I will be having a Grandbaby coming sometime in May. That could be a future product...Hee Hee What kind of fish food do you make?

OOOOHHHH, OOOOHHHH I know who sent you the little beauties (grin). She is one of the two very special ladies who post on here. I am soooo indebted to them for sending me goodies I will spend the rest of my life repaying them!

I know exactly which ladies you refer to Connie. They have been good friends of mine through thick and thin. Even when I come back from a 2 year hiatis they treat me just like family and take me back in.
I too will forever be in debt to them.
I make gel food for my fish using baby food, frozen meat cubes and gelatin.
My fish are HUGE orandas that I love immensely and they are making me some WONDERFUL plant water in return *lol*
I have 9 of them and they are all named but I will only show Chiquita for now.
I would be more than happy to show more to those that are interested. They have the BEST personalities!

Learn something new everyday! What a cutie! I used to have a Beta swimming around in a vase with the peace lily. I know you have seen those. I have an aquarium but haven't set it back up since I moved back to my hometown. One day I will if I EVER get things straightened out here.

Thanks for showing me your baby. Very CUTE!!!

Morning! Kim I would love it if you would save me some of those containers! Thank you .I was going to buy a few applesauce ones just to get the container but I don't think I would be able to eat it at my age.tee, hee ^_^

Nice fish!

Jan, I will be more than happy to save some for you. It will take me a few months to stockpile them though. I usually only use about 16 a month but whatever I use I will split with ya :)
I'd say by fall I could send you bunches :)
I wish I had been saving them all along but I never thought I would be growing again :)
Just moved the betta I had out of the 5 gallon and into my daughters 30 gallon so that I could use the 5 gallon as a terrarium *lol*. I've been bit :)

I get the clear, clamshell type containers with spring mix salad greens in. PERFECT size for starting seeds, AV cuttings, etc.! AND the salad greens keep me regular! LOL
I know TMI!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

That's AWESOME Tommy!
I too keep my salad dishes with covers from EVERYWHERE.
I'm so bad that when I'm in the lunch room at work, I start collecting OTHER peoples "greenhouses" *lol*

Kim, I use all the containers like that for little GH. Everytime my Son gets ready to put something in the recycle bin he ask me if it is something I want to keep. Got him trained to look for useful items.

Kim how do you make the food? Do you have a recipe you can pass on to the rest of us?

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I would be happy to pass on the recipe Makshi; however, it's really for large goldfish only. I have 9 VERY big orandas and this recipe is perfect for them but not for all fish.

Do you have goldfish and are they big (bigger than 5 inches)? Mine are elephants and gel food really requires a large appetite and large mouth.

Just let me know.

I'll have to see if I can find how to make some fish food. I have a fish pond and I have some large goldfish and they had babies (too many). So I have all sizes out there now. Fish food is expensive with a lot of fish. Someone posted on another forum she feeds hers cherios..I don't think thats very good nutrition for fish..maybe sometimes, but not every day.

I use the deli containers to root my leaves and sew seeds. No babies here, but those ARE neat containers!

Lynn..I know exactly what your talking about..I tell the deli counter person what container to put the potatoe salad in.they usually just look at me funny..I have 3 pups starting in there right now they love it..I found some super pan pots at the 99 cent store..the only problem is I woul have to spray paint them..they have easter deco on them..there actually cute left alone..light blue and pink..trailers would love that..anyhoos maybe I'll pick some up tomm..

I never thought of that!...asking for specific containers! How cleaver!

My plants all live in eclectic containers - (did I spell that right - a nice little word for mis-matched this and that). Shabby Chic is a little too upscale to describe my planting containers, ha.

I have Shabby Chic and plain pots,as well as a really cute homemade Oyama planter from Jannich.^_^
I'm still using my "Easter Egg terrariums" from last year too.

Kim no mine aren't goldfish so guess they won't need that food.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Because of their bladders and their size; goldfish can get very floaty on flake food. I was starting to see that with a couple of mine so I researched it and learned about gel food. But when I make the gel food it's like in 1 inch squares and the goldfish love it but I have found the guppies don't like it and it's just too big for them. Goldfish will eat anything *lol*

Kim

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Kim how did you know I had guppies??

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

That's funny. I have 1 tank of goldfish and 1 tank of guppies *lol* I just feed the guppies flakes. Their cheap and the guppies seem to like them better :)
I didn't know you had guppies *lol*.

Kim

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

:) They multiply to fast. I started out with 4 and now there are 3 tanks.
Did you ever try to seperate males and females? Just as soon as you think you have them seperated there they are babies. I give up. You can't get pet stores to take them unless they put them in the feeder tank and I don't like that idea.
