Raspberry Monarda

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

How much shade can this plant take? Approx. how tall does it get? PF says it mounds and reaches about 3' tall. Is this accurate for our area (north Texas)? I have 2 that I picked up last fall at the RU that survived the winter in my sun room. I'm trying to decide where to plant them.

I don't know about the raspberry but the pink I had reached 3 feet easily. Too much shade and they get sort of spindly.

Here's a link that includes light needs. If it's anything like other monardas, the more sun they get, the bushier they get.

I'm more concerned with powdery mildew if it doesn't get enough sun. Anyone have any experience with that?

Oh yes and all the monarda I have grown can and often do get mildew if its too shady and moist in an area. They need good air circulation, fair amount of sun and not to be crowded too much. Having said that mine require a lot of water during the growing season but they bloom forever and attract bees like crazy.

Hmmmmm.....I might have to reconsider my planting location. I have a perfect spot for it in a mostly dappled shady area, but that might not be enough sun.
