We are coming from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1064418/. With Spring coming to the Northeast, it's about time to get the last of the plants in the ground so they can get established before I abandon them to the fate of a hot Florida summer. Before we know it, we'll be building a puppy fence in NH and watching for all the RU plants from last September to peak through the rich NH soil. Until then, here are a few shots of Spring flowers here.....Please add some of your spring flowers as well......
DonnieBrook's Subtropical Adventures: The Finale
Jeez, I missed this whole thread! I'll go back and read it all. No spring flowers here, really, a few brave crocuses.
Yeah, but that means other bulbs aren't far behind!! How exciting for you, Carrie, after such a long winter!
Looking good, though, Louise and Hank!
Oh, and by the way, that ugly fence that is our back neighbor's is now thankfully not all we see when we sit on our sun porch and drink our first cup of coffee as the sun comes up!
Thanks, Carrie! How has your winter been?
Hi, Louise! Our winter has been long, dark and cold, with too many people being sick! ^_^ I decided DD#2 is going to get a pack of disinfectant wipes in her knapsack. Schools (and nursing homes) are like petri dishes. I'm looking forward to seeing the other bulbs I planted come up!
It won't be long now, Carrie! I remember well how welcome Spring is up there after a long, cold winter! Hang on!!
Hanging ......
LOL
Hank, Are those African daisies in the puppy pic? We had a couple of those 2 summers ago that bloomed like crazy right into the frost. Last years were a different variety or something and were a real disappointment. Ric
Hi Ric. They are white and bluish purple osteospermum. I LOVE them. They filled up the area very quickly. By the way, I'm Louise....Hank is not allowed to post on my DG. LOL! I just talk about him all the time. :)
Ha ha hah ha hah aha a ha ha ha a haha h a a ha!
Thanks Louise, That's what I was talking about I didn't know the Latin name. I don't know if they prefer it drier than it was here last summer, but the summer before they were just glorious.
There's a number of folks in MA Forum wish I didn't post on Holly's DG. They get so confused even though I try to sign everything. LOL I do have my own but DG wouldn't spring for a family discount. Ric
You are good about signing your name, so I never get confused, Ric. Hank gets selective views of posts, and he enjoys the RUs and the great DG friends we've met at the RUs. But one DG addict in the house is enough! LOL
Start signing Holly's name!
part one of the patio looks great Louise!!!
LOL Victor, but I get into enough trouble being just me.
Louise I never thought about a sand box for the dogs, they would probably love it, especially if it was partially shaded. My only problem is we also have always had cats. I'm not to sure how that would work. LOL Ric
Louise, your place is really coming along nicely. The patio and puppy yard are looking great, as is your garden out back.
Ric, I do believe those African daisies like it dry. They did very well in Mesa, AZ, where I lived for 4 years. Just bloomed their heads off!
LOL! Global warming, Sherrie! I remember a March back in 2002 when it was very mild. In fact it got into the 70's here. That was my first month/year moving back here after living in AZ and NV for 22 years before that. Ever since then the winters have been cold and long. I would love it to continue being mild early like this. I would be very happy with that.
Karen
"Global warming" is really a misnomer; it should have been called "global climate change" from the beginning. Warmer temps mean more moisture in the air ( where it should be frozen, like glaciers and ice caps) means more precipitation (snow, rain, don't matter which) for us, makes everyone shoveling their cars out grumble "what global warming?"
Hotter. Colder. Drier. Wetter. Stormier. Calmer. Locusts. You name it. It's all explained by 'climate change'. Wish I had thought up such a great catch-all excuse when I was a kid.
You mean you never used that one when you wanted to miss a day of school, Victor? "Gosh, Mom, this climate change is giving me a headache today."
Should have! Would have been almost as good as, 'Sorry I did not do my HW. The hour I normally do it was lost to daylight savings.'
Now that's a good one! The worst prank my son ever pulled (or tried to pull) was when he was in high school and had procrastinated on doing a term paper. He got up and left for school at his normal time, but I had a suspicion that that he was planning to skip school to finish his paper when I saw the paper half done in his typewriter in his room. I did a horrible thing....I went to the place on the page where he left off and typed in, "You're Dead Meat if you read this when you should be at school! Love, Mom" HA HA HA.......I was right....he called me at work and confessed. Hey, I pulled a few pranks as a kid myself.
Hee hee. Can't kid a kidder!
My boys never understood how I could figure out what they did, or were up to all the time. They sure didn't understand the "been there, done that" concept. LOL How is it every generation of boys think their cons are new and original ideas. It must be they never think of us as ever having been in their shoes. We're just old and slow witted. Ric
^_^
Not yet.
Ric, I have to say girls are just as bad. The word grounded never sat right w/one of the girls and she thought she'd just wait until the 'old folks' fell asleep and sneak out her bedroom window. What a surprise to find Mom camped out under said window with a sleeping bag & flashlight waiting. She thought I was a witch w/ a crystal ball. ^_^
