Well she's blooming! The smell isn't as bad as I thought it would be but it's still not pleasant!

Not sure about the brave part! The smell wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It wasn't GOOD but not all that strong to me.
That's what I've heard - still, with its reputation, you don't know what you're in for. Do you have flies beating on your windows?
My 13 pounder is going to bloom next! No mercy for me I guess. Just realized it today.

Those Amorphs can really put on growth when they want to. I recorded these rates of growth at various different times for my largest paeoniifolius this season:
52 cms (20.5 inches) in 3 days
4.5 cms (1.8 inches) 9PM to 4 AM
6.5 cms (6.5 inches) morning to evening
But when it stopped, it definitely stopped, at 2.27 metres (89.4 inches). It's been sitting at that height for nearly 3 months now and still looking good. It's going to be interesting to see the size of tuber it's producing.

tommyr2006, I have enjoyed viewing the bloom from your Konjac. Do you grow them in the ground as well in your zone?
Tropic, has your A.paeoniifolius produced a bloom yet? I see that there are none to view in plantfiles. Nice plant and a fast growing one at that with your recorded growth rate's.
Although this plant is not in the Amorphophallus genus, it's still just as beautiful to view.

These are so exotic looking. I love them!! A friend gave me a small amorphophallus 'konjac', but I didn't protect it well enough and lost it over a particularly nasty winter. As soon as I figure out the logistics, I'll try one again.

I grow them in large pots. I may have to make a large box for the 13 pounder this spring though. The ground here is heavy in clay so drainage isn't good at all.
Rachel, I used to only have the one large A. paeoniifolius which flowered regularly without being looked after. But tree roots got into the pot and last wet season ended too quickly so the plant finished its cycle early. When I took the tuber out it had shrunk a lot. So this season I gave it and some others a lot of attention and they've responded. Next season I'm hoping for lots of flowers again.
I like Typhoniums too, I have at least two species growing naturally on my place.
I had two seeds of A. konjac sent to me but they've been in a pot about 6 weeks and still no sign of growth. They were supposed to be a bit old, guess maybe too old.
