Plant pollination

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Here's a great article about extending pollination times with mason bees by keeping them cold and staggering their release into the garden.

I discovered some bees in the fridge last summer and put the tube out on the patio table to see what would happen. Low and behold, after a couple hours, they slowly started to emerge. I recommend this experience highly. They are so darned sweet and it was miraculous to watch them emerge. I actually kept their house on the patio table, too, and then only mounted it on a wall when every was "holed up", as it were, for the season.
