Mystery plant

Have you ever bought a mystery plant, having not the faintest idea what it was or how to take care of it?
What was it? Did it survive?

I haven't. I'm real particular with my garden plans so I always have an idea what I'm going to buy.
Just wondering if people do.

Not bought but collected. Once on a trip to the Bahamas I collected seeds from this nice bush that had some very lovely, almost ‘orchid like’ reddish/ orange flowers. I planted the seeds when I came back and the bush grew to 4’ high and even flowered regularly, I kept it indoors and gave it a south window and a very large pot, it ended up lasting 5yrs. Eventually I found out what the little bush was … Pride of Barbados.

Neat!

I bought this air plant thingie.. last year at the sussex county springfest.. it lived until the air condition came on in the house... then slowly withered away
