Hi all -
I'm so glad we're finally warming up! Now that I can get back out in the yard, I need to get about 6 cubic yards of good flower bed dirt to fill in my courtyard. Where can I get good dirt for a good price? I live in Cleveland and would prefer to have dirt delivered, but am open to driving to Houston or Conroe if needed.
Thanks in advance for your advice/input
Need good dirt
several cities in Tx offer a bio compost = for sale that is just fantastic.. I get mine in Jacksonville but there might be a plant close to you.. I pick it up and it costs 16.00 a yard.. I can get a pick up truck full for 24.00 which is a yard and half. Some plants will deliver for a fee usually so much per mile so its a lot more cost effective if you get a lot at once like you are planning on doing...you need to mix it with some topsoil to get it to retain water better....I just mix some topsoil with the compost where Im placing a plant rather than thru out all the soil to make things easier for me.. they also sell mulch at great prices.. the jacksonville plant sells mulch for 12.00 a yard, a pick up truck full is 18.00.
...you cant beat it!!!
Living Earth has awesome dirt and other stuff for your garden. Check them out online. I know they have several places in the Houston metro area.
Nature's Way has some of the best stuff. It's in Conroe. Their website has prices listed.
Thanks everyone. I'll check those out.
The soil/mulch/compost from Nature's Way is far superior to that of Living Earth. The man who owns Nature's Way has advanced degrees in soil science and really knows what he's doing. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
