Yesterday I picked up 5 chicks from my feed store and one has a large transparent veiny bulge on its chest area. Its pretty big and it has to bend its head back and cant walk without toppling over. Its keeping its eyes closed, not moving around much and it sounds like a soft popping when it breaths...it is quiet but its with each breath.
Well, as I was typing this poor baby took its last breath... Any ideas on what may have caused this and might it be catching? The other 4 babys seem fine for now

It doesn't sound contagious. It does sound like it had a crop problem... which can sometimes be caused by pathogens that are infectious...but probably wouldn't hurt a healthy chick.
If another chick gets sick, I would put them on an antibiotic.
