My dear neice, a young mother, is looking for a web site that has weekly directives for the PNW gardener. Portland Metro area, to be exact. Great question and I could use this too. Just tell us what to do & when to do it!
Nothing complicated that requires too much knowledge.
thank you.
Looking for DIRECTIVES.
Anastatia, this MAY exist, but would be somewhat inaccurate as gardening is wholly dependent on the weather/location. What works one month in one year, might not the next.
Her best bet is to visit a local Nursery - they can give her the best advice for her area. But let her know that even a few miles away may experience variances in temps.
Another thing is to become a good observer - what is going on in the neighbourhood, etc.
Gardening is somewhat flexible, with general rules. But a week by week playbook?
Hope she's able to find something that works for her. She could try online - maybe someone has a site devoted to this.
I did go to the Portland Nursery, a biggie in Portland, OR and I signed up for their newsletter. The info suggested their newsletter has something lilke this. Altho, I would prefer something like: Put on play clothes. brush teeth. weed the flower bed. turn compost. etc. NO BRAINERS are so comfortable..
Try your local extension office. They usually have info on local gardening and our Master Gardeners put out a notebook full of info for Mason County.
Great idea. thank you.
Found this by typing "monthly gardening tasks" into Google search. There are several other links listed, as well. It will vary by year and by season, but there are some less specific tasks that can be pre-determined independent of the weather, more or less:

Might check oregonlive.com (Oregonian)also-they have a bunch of gardening stuff online. They might have a monthly calendar. :)
susybell, I thought of that just the other day. The Thursday H &G section has something like that @ least during growing season. thank you.
:)
OHHHH, Katie, I just had a look at the gardenhelper list and I can't believe how far behind I am!!!!!!! ARggggggg. Fertilize shrubs and trees in January? We had 8" of snow at that time!
I think this speaks to Kate's comment about how these tasks vary widely, depending on where you are. We're well into summer while you are just getting spring. Next year it's likely to be reversed. :-)
My fingers are crossed that you are right - don't think I want two winters, in sucession, like this one in.
